Heart Protect becomes Heart+
Heart Protect became Heart+. But not only has the name changed, the entire formula has also been upgraded in line with the latest findings and advances in technology and science. We have tried to create a comprehensive formula that not only focuses on the health of the heart, but also on the entire cardiovascular system.
According to the American Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO), cardiovascular disease is the most common cause of death worldwide [1] [2]. However, we are not defenceless against them. Most cardiovascular diseases are self-inflicted and can be prevented [2].
A lack of physical activity is one of the most important factors that increase the risk of developing these diseases. However, extreme levels of exercise can also pose a risk. Studies have shown that intense exercise at a competitive level can contribute to thickening of the left ventricular wall, which is the most common cause of non-traumatic sudden cardiac death in people under 35 years of age [3].
In addition, many athletes from a wide range of sports, even at amateur level, expose their bodies to the use of performance-enhancing substances such as anabolic steroids and stimulants. The various substances can pose an independent risk of cardiovascular disease in different ways [4] [5].
In recent years, awareness of organ health has risen sharply among athletes. Especially those who use performance-enhancing drugs should undergo regular health checks and blood tests to keep an eye on the health of their organs, including the cardiovascular system.
How should Heart+ be taken?
One portion of Heart+ corresponds to 4 capsules. In principle, these can be taken at any time of day, preferably with meals. Due to the antioxidant content, we recommend taking them at a time that is as far away from strength training as possible. Studies suggest that the acute intake of high amounts of antioxidants could inhibit the acute training stimulus in terms of strength, muscle mass and endurance in the short term.
Particularly with regard to the trans-resveratrol it contains, studies suggest that taking it before and immediately after training could inhibit the positive adaptations to sporting activity. We therefore recommend taking Heart+ at least 3 hours after training.
